Business Systems Analyst |
The Business Systems Analyst works as a primary interface between the Product, Customer Operations and Technology, as well as across different development & QA teams. The Business Systems Analyst understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements, and formulates a solution to meet the requirements while fitting into the capabilities of our systems and resources. The skills and experience required for this job include BA/Requirements Management skills along with strong high-level Technical Design and solution skills, and thus it requires technical breadth and/or depth. It requires experience in formulating technical solutions and leading a matrix development team towards that solution. Knowledge in wealth management/ portfolio accounting industry helps, although not required. While the role requires some traditional BA skills, it is more slanted towards the traditional Systems Analyst duties.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze and validate published Business Requirements and translate them into specific functional solutions, process flows, data flows, message data mapping, User & System Interface designs, Business Rule definitions, Use Case specifications, software and infrastructure component definition, etc…
- Define, analyze, evaluate and design large and complex solutions to meet technology and business needs
- Collaborate with Systems Architect(s) develop high-level functional designs
- Prepare Functional Design deliverables by analyzing requirements, constructing diagrams, studying system capabilities, and writing specifications
- Responsible for coordinating the technical solution across several technology teams in a matrix organization
- Develop the solution approach and project deliverables consistent with internal architecture
- Ensure all areas impacted have adequate/appropriate stakeholder representation
- If applicable, interface with third-party vendors during design to ensure coverage of the business needs and compliant integration to meet our requirements
- Develops knowledge (breadth) of several business and technical areas
Decision Making / Problem Solving:
- Use sound judgment and experience to solve moderately complex problems
- Use independent judgment to identify problems, make decisions, and recommend solutions based on precedents, objectives, standard procedures, industry best practices and/or established guidelines
- Approach problems in a systematic way and suggests alternative solutions to address the issue
- Accurately identify and define dependencies, assumptions, and constraints (technical and business) of a solution scope
- Understand when to escalate and/or collaborate with other teams to overcome hurdles.
- Prioritize work on 2-5 concurrent projects
Qualifications:
- In-depth knowledge of applications, technologies, business acumen, organization, versatility, interpersonal skills, and client focus
- Broad/versatile knowledge of wealth management/portfolio products and services, and the business and technical processes used to enable those products and services
- Understanding of infrastructure engineering with baseline knowledge of application architecture, integration architecture, infrastructure architecture, security, and data architecture
- Knowledge of requirements engineering and familiarity with one software development lifecycle methodology preferably Kanban/Agile
- Baseline understanding of project management
- Ability to independently facilitate complex data gathering and requirements meetings, as well as JAD sessions and Design walkthroughs
- Ability to develop and manage critical success factors
- Strong computer proficiency, particularly MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong diagramming proficiency, preferably with MS Visio
- Strong logical reasoning skills, with the ability to solve problems
- Strong professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to influence others
- Bachelor Degree from a 4-year college or university in the area of Systems/Technology desired
- Minimum five years of experience in financial technology systems required
